Hats Funny Comedy was born from the desire of comedian Ian Hayes, who just wanted to set up an open mic at his local pub, to allow him some stage time. It's opening night took place on Sunday 28th August 2022, with over 50 people coming to The Boot Inn South Luffenham. It was a superb night of comedy and the start of something very special.
Since then, Hats Funny Comedy has grown at an unbelievable pace. It has brought laughter to 30 venues across 5 counties, and cemented itself as a trusted comedy brand within the Midlands comedy circuit. Our rapid success is down to us following our 4 pillars of laughter.
We firmly believe in a face to face approach with our venues, and will personally meet with our customers to discuss your comedy needs.
We will always work with our venues in every aspect of the comedy night, because we are in this together.
We are proud of every single act, that stands in front of the Hats Funny Comedy banners. Making a group of strangers laugh is one of the toughest things you can ever do, so we do our best to ensure that all acts are as comfortable as they can be.
We make sure that our acts are looked after at every stage of the night, with clear lines of communication, professional standard equipment at every level of comedy, refreshments provided at every gig and prompt payments upon completion. You represent us on that stage, so we want to look after you, because we are in this together.
We love our audiences, as without them, we'd be lonely comedians, stood on a stage, talking to ourselves.
We want our audiences to be comfortable at our shows. Not just comfy in your seat, but comfortable with what is happening on the stage. We work hard to ensure that the comedians are suitable for the venue in which they perform. We respect that comedy is subjective, and can offend at times, but when managed correctly, comedy nights bring a level of enjoyment, that cannot be matched.
You will see our founder, Ian, speaking to the audience during intervals and at the end of the show. Not only to thank you for your support, but to also give you an opportunity to provide immediate feedback. We want to know what you like and don't like, so that we can make sure our nights are enjoyed by all; Because we are in this together.
The best comedy nights happen when the venue is set up perfectly for comedy, and works with the promoter to fill the room with a lovely audience.
The room has a professional set up of lighting and sound, giving that feel that this is going to be an amazing night.
The acts arrive to find the perfect set up and the audience assembled in to the room, giving them that feel that this is going to be an amazing night.
The venue, having taken on board the promoters' advice on how to get the best from the night, seeing so many happy smiley faces, as they prepare for the nights entertaiment.
The warm and friendly MC, counting down to the event, playing the right music in preparation, before announcing themself on to the stage, and lifting the audience with banter and jokes.
The acts individually perform their respective routines, to a respectful and playful audience. Taking the roof off with huge belly laughs.
Then everyone goes home with huge smiles, lots of tales to tell their friends the next day, and everyone asking the same thing; When is the next one?
Why was this night such a success? Because we all played our part; Because we are in this together.
